People often confuse customs agencies with customs offices. However, it is important to remember these are separate entities.<\/p>\n

A Customs Office is a state institution that represents the interests of the state in customs-related matters. Individuals employed by the Customs Office are primarily customs officers who should not be confused with customs agents.<\/p>\n

Customs agencies, on the other hand, are private companies that act as an intermediary between an entrepreneur and the Customs Office. How does a customs agency work?<\/h3><\/div>
A customs agency deals with all the formal matters that are related to the customs service of import or export and transit of goods. In the case of cargo transport within the European Union, procedures are highly simplified as transportation is carried out within the European Economic Area (EEA). An Intrastat declaration is sufficient. <\/p>\n

However, formalities and procedures related to trade with countries outside the European Union (e.g. China) are complicated and require making customs declarations, holding numerous documents and permits, and the applicable regulations often change.<\/p>\n

Tasks of the customs agency<\/h2><\/div><\/div>
<\/div>[vc_column_text]The main task of a customs agency is to deal with activities related to customs clearance. Agents make customs declarations for goods crossing the European Union border and for the acquisition of excise goods within the European Union. Moreover, they provide advice, verify documents, calculate all necessary payments and represent the client before the Tax and Customs Office, Border Sanitary Inspection or Agricultural and Food Quality Inspection.<\/p>\n

  • Declaration for the release for circulation procedure in writing: electronically (AIS system) or in hardcopy (SAD form) \u2013 mandatory in the case of imports from outside the EU. The result of the declaration is that the importer receives a PZC document (confirmation of customs declaration) upon the payment of customs duties and taxes.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
